There are so many ways to lighten your bike now adays. It all depends on how much cash you have to spend though. Some ways to do it cheap are to cut your bars, seatpost, drill holes in the seatpost, etc. You can also replace some of the smaller parts with lighter ones, such as the bars. You can replace them with the new Butted bars (and forks) that are stronger and lighter. I think Fly, Macneil, and some other companies are making those now?You can probably get a lighter seat and stem also. Id reccomend tyhe Odyssey Elementary stem if your looking for really light. Id reccomend a Tree Sprocket. they are also strong and faily light. If you have more money to spend, you can replace your wheelset. Wheels on a stock bike are never that great. You can probably eliminate a decent amount of weight with a new wheelset. THre are so many options for wheels tho that i cant really give you reccomenations. it depends on the type of riding you do. Odyssey make quality hubs and wheels, as well as macneil (hubs), sun(rims), and there are countless others. Getting Ti (titanium) parts is also another way to save weight. Ti parts are very expensive however and some feel they arent worth the money. Probably the most weight loss would be if you got a new frame, but since its your first bike you probably dont want to do that right now. I would keep riding what you have for now, and maybe get some lighter bars or forks. As you progress you will realize which parts will best suit your specific needs. If you do decide to buy new parts however, and are not sure what exactly toget, go to www.empirebmx.com . THey are a great rider owned comapny who always will cut you good deals and help out. You can go to the ' Ask Bonnie' section of the site, and ask the employees at Empire what they think wil suit you. Hope this helps, and excuse the grammar im typin really fast

Right now I am going mad light with my wheels. Mainly my front wheel, its a proper magniti 36h hub laced with Ti spokes and alloy nipples to a primo balance. The rear is also very light with a macneil hub 36h, ti 9 tooth driver, premium ss flush axel kit, and a odyssey hazzord light rim that I drilled out. Should have some pictures up soon. It sould weight about 24.5 pounds when done or perhaps lighter.

| My last setup before new wheels was about 25.3pounds. My new wheels should take off over a pound, around 18oz. So my bike should be in the mid to low 24s. I love light bikes!
